The Morinville Festival Society held a Pokémon GO event in St. Jean Baptiste Park Saturday afternoon, not only drawing plenty of Pokémon but also those trying to catch them. The event, a fundraiser for the society, included a hot dog concession stand.

Town of Morinville to host Pokémon Go Lure Party
Includes prizes to give away
submitted by Town of Morinville
On Saturday, Aug. 27, Morinville Youth will be hosting a Pokémon GO lure party from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Jean Baptiste Park. The event is open to Pokémon GO fans of all ages, and will include a lure party and prizes for participants who complete a short survey.
“We have seen how Pokémon GO has become a phenomenon in our community and we would like to offer an opportunity for all members of our community to come together for the afternoon to enjoy some family friendly fun,” says Erin Debusschere, Morinville Outreach Youth Worker.
Throughout the event, Morinville youth workers will be setting up lures – a way to bring the Pokémon to SJB Park, rather than players having to walk the streets looking for them.
Anyone who wishes to participate is more than welcome, and should bring their phone or Ipad, have the Pokémon Go app downloaded, bring a portable phone charger, and ensure they have a good data plan.
Pokémon Go officially launched in Canada July 17.
