Motorcyclist succumbs to injuries after Highway 2 collision

The Morinville RCMP reported Monday afternoon that they were advised the 36-year-old male driver of the motorcycle involved in the collision on Aug. 19 succumbed to his injuries in hospital Aug. 21.

The man, who has not been identified by police, was airlifted Friday afternoon after a collision with a pick-up truck around 4:45 p.m. Friday afternoon. The collision occurred on Highway 2 near Township Road 564 in Sturgeon County.

Police say the northbound motorcycle struck the pickup truck attempting to make a u-turn on the highway.

As a result of the collision, the male driver of the motorcycle was airlifted by STARS Air Ambulance with serious life-threatening injuries. The male driver of the pickup was assessed and treated on scene by emergency service personnel.The motorcyclist died as a result of his injuries Sunday.

Police said Monday they were continuing to investigate the incident.

  1. I know exactly the horror that his family is going through and I feel for them. I will be praying for their comfort. These are a very similar set of circumstances as to how my brother died seventeen years ago. My heart goes out to them.
