Letter: Cardiff resident places 2nd in lacrosse

I wanted to share some good news about Alex Sorochan the Cardiff resident who played Bantam Team Alberta Lacrosse.

Team Alberta finished in 2nd place at the Box Lacrosse Bantam Nationals in Saskatoon, August 1-7, 2016.

The tournament was a huge success for Team Alberta, finishing with a 6-2 record and bringing home the silver! In the round robin Team Alberta defeated Saskatchewan, Manitoba, First Nations, British Columbia and Nova Scotia, losing only one game to Ontario. The gold medal game had Team Alberta playing against the powerhouse and tournament favourite to win it all – Team Ontario. The hard-fought game ended in a loss for Team AB. Alex got three goals and an assist in the tournament to round out his points total to four. Alex described his experience throughout the entire tournament as one he will never forget, “the high level of game-play and talent of my teammates was one highlight that stood out for me”, Sorochan goes on to say “the two months of pre-tournament preparation at mini camps in both Edmonton and Calgary were a lot of fun, I made new friendships that will last a lifetime”.

He would also like to give a huge thank you to the community for their support and especially the support from local business, Brent Melville – ReMax Real Estate and CANLAX Lacrosse who were jersey sponsors.
