Sturgeon County Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Peter Tarnawsky’s appointment has been extended five years. Tarnawsky, one of the region’s longest-serving CAO’s has been in the position since November of 2011.
“We’ve had some very successful developments under Mr. Tarnawsky’s leadership, and I am pleased that he has agreed to stay on with us to see us through many important Council guided initiatives and to provide continued stability to the organization,” said Sturgeon County Mayor Tom Flynn in a news release issued to media Sept. 7.
Tarnawsky holds an MBA, and the County says the municipal Administrator has dedicated many years to municipal leadership.
“Successes are due in large measure to an engaged Council, a strong relationship with its CAO and confidence in his leadership and oversight of a committed municipal staff, strong management of Council’s agenda and of relationships with residents, developers, and industry,” Flynn said.
In addition to overseeing a $70 million operating and capital budget in 2016, the County was, under Tarnawsky’s management, recently honoured as the highest ranked Alberta County and Number 8 overall in Alberta’s Best Communities for Business by Alberta Venture magazine.
