The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) has launched DrinkSense, a responsible drinking campaign that will provide Albertans with information on responsible drinking.

The one month campaign began Sept. 9 on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD) Awareness Day. The campaign includes DrinkSenseAB.ca, digital advertising, the distribution of one million DrinkSense bags at liquor stores throughout Alberta, and promotional materials at more than 130 Best Bar None ( a voluntary program to reduce alcohol-related harms) venues across the province.

The government says DrinkSense is designed to raise Albertan’s awareness about the responsible use of liquor, with a focus on millennials, women in child-bearing years, and industry staff.

“DrinkSense represents the AGLC’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and promotion of moderate alcohol consumption,” said Bill Robinson, President, and CEO, Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission in a release Friday. “DrinkSense will help raise greater public awareness, strengthen stakeholder partnerships and provide programs to promote responsible use of alcohol for all Albertans.”

The DrinkSense program originated in Manitoba, and the province says it will be incorporated for all of AGLC’s responsible liquor programs for both consumers and industry by promoting Canada’s Low-Risk Drinking Guidelines.
