Housing Symposium draws 200 politicians to Morinville

The Capital Region Board (CRB) 2016 ReEnvision Housing Symposium was held on Thursday at the MCCC with more than 200 in attendance from 23 communities.

St. Albert Mayor and CRB Chair Nolan Crouse provided a welcome and greetings as did Morinville Mayor and Vice-Chair of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Growth Plan Task Force Lisa Holmes, and the Honourable Lori Sigurdson, Minister of Seniors and Housing.

The morning keynote speaker was Ryan Berlin on Changing Faces & Changing Places, and in the afternoon former Minister of Municipal Affairs Doug Griffiths spoke on 13 Ways to Kill Your Community.

Walking and bus tours were provided in the morning as well as an afternoon panel and improvisational comedy show.

More than 30 of the attendees took the one-hour walking tour of Morinville. Stops included Aspen House, St. Jean Baptiste Parish, Morinville Museum, and apartments, 100 Block West, multi-family infill developments, Morinville Public School, Heritage Lodge, the Fable Daycare, and Morinville Community High School’s Outdoor Learning & Community Space.
