Family switches from horror films to pirates for Halloween Display

Freddy Kruger, Leatherface, Jason, Pinhead and Pennywise from Stephen King’s IT were hanging out in a Morinville neighbourhood with Chucky and that creepy girl from the Ring last Halloween. This year, Joanne and Trevor Antonsen have opted for a pirate theme for their annual display in their 98 Street yard.

The Antonsens have been doing the display for about six years and the family always gets creative for Halloween.

As was the case last year, Joanne said the inspiration for the pirate theme came from looking online for ideas.

The resulting pirate theme is spread across the family’s entire front yard with a pirate ship, rum barrels, a lifesize pirate, ship rats and plenty of skeleton crewmates.

The family likes to put the display up a few weeks before Halloween for maximum enjoyment.

The family hopes people will drive by their 98 Street and 95 Avenue home to take a look. Once again this year, people are invited to take photos and go on the yard for pirate selfies.

A donation bin for the Morinville Food Bank will be in place for Thursday night. All are invited to have a look and drop some food off.
