Jets looking for sixth straight Friday night

by Morinville News Staff

The Morinville Jets are on a hot streak and looking for their sixth straight win Friday night when they take on the 13-3-0 Edmonton Royals at home.

The Jets pummeled the St. Albert Merchants Sunday night with an 8-1 victory, the Merchants only goal of the game coming in the final frame when the Jets had built a 6-0 lead already.

Wednesday night saw the Jets facing the Regals on the road. The Junior B club emerged from that contest on the upside of a 6-2 result. After ascending from a 1-0 lead to end the first, the Jets built a 4-2 lead before capping it with another pair in the final 20 minutes.

The Jets currently sit in the second seat in the Capital Junior Hockey League’s West Division with a 9-3-4 record.

Morinville Jet Tyler Hagel leads the Jets in scoring and is in second place in the league overall with 23 goals and 14 assists. Hagle has scored almost a third of the Jets’ 73 goals this season.

Jets President Brent Melville told Morinville News he is confident Hagel will ascend to the top of the league’s scorers Friday night when the Jets face the Edmonton Royals at home.

Game time is 8:30 p.m. at the Ray McDonald Sports Center.
