by Morinville News Staff

The Morinville Senior AA Kings hit the road Saturday night to face the Edson Ice and returned with an 8-6 victory for their troubles. Saturday’s win followed a 3-1 loss tot he Daysland Northstars at home Friday night.

The win and loss bring the Kings to a 7-3-0 record this season. The Kings sit in the third slot in the NCHL, three points behind Bonnyville and five points behind Devon.

Saturday’s win was built largely in the middle frame. The Kings followed a 1-1 first-period tie to pile on four goals to Edson’s one in the middle frame. That lead was built to 6-2 before Edson answered back with four in a row to tie it 6-6 with 1:16 left in the game. Morinville piled on another pair of goals at 43 and 18 seconds left, the final an empty net effort.

The Kings end November with a home-ice showdown with Slave Lake. Game time is 8:30 p.m. at the Ray McDonald Sports Center.
