Jets maintain top slot in CJHL West Division

It was a great week for the Morinville Jets. The Junior B team had back-to-back wins starting with a 6-2 victory over the Beverly Warriors Wednesday night and a 7-2 toppling of the Stony Plain Flyers at home Sunday evening.

The four points bring the Jets to a 13-4-4 record this season. They sit one point and one game ahead of the North Edmonton Red Wings and two points and a game ahead of the Warriors.

Though holding second place in the West Division in penalty minutes at 572, the Jets have given up fewer goals while down a man than any other team in the Division The club is earning roughly five goals a game while giving up only three.

Sunday night saw the Jets pulling out two goal periods during the first and middle frames while keeping the Flyers scoreless. The club piled on another three to Stony’s two in the final period for a 7-2 win.

The Jets face the Red Wings Wednesday night and the Regals Friday night, both on the road, and return home Sunday to face the Riggers at 7:15 p.m. (note game time is half hour later than normal.)
