Updated: At approximately 2 a.m. today, Morinville RCMP received a report of a serious collision on Highway 28 just south of Township Road 570 involving a truck and semi. The truck was travelling southbound on Highway 28 when it at attempted to pass another vehicle. The truck then collided head-on with a northbound semi-truck and trailer.
Police, EMS and Fire were on scene for several hours.
The lone occupant of the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. The semi-truck driver was not injured during the collision. Morinville RCMP along with the RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate the fatal collision. The name of the deceased will not be released.
Traffic was diverted around the scene for several hours while the investigation continued. The highway has since been re-opened.

The Morinville RCMP are asking all motorists to avoid Highway 28 north of Gibbons near Township Road 570. Police, Fire and EMS are currently at that location attending to a serious motor vehicle collision.
Traffic is currently being diverted around the scene.
The investigation is still in the preliminary stages and no further information is available at this time. An update will be provided when available.
