It appears work on the Husky canopy repair is set to begin. THe gas station has now been closed for several weeks. Head office told Morinville News the closure was due to the canopy.

Learning skills
Young athletes had the opportunity to learn some skills they can use on and off the ice last week. The Ray McDonald Sports Center played host to the Town of Morinville Skills Development program. Hockey players navigated obstacles with the puck before shooting at the net.

Tim Phillips of MADD hands Lori McLaughlin the RCMP’s box of MADD ribbons Thursday afternoon. Ribbons can be purchased by donation at the Morinville RCMP Detachment.

Emma a success
Morinville Community High School Drama chose an updated version of a Jane Austen novel with this year’s production. Emma: A Pop Musical by Eric Price, told the story of Emma Woodhouse, played by Daphne Charrois, a senior at Highbury Prep who is sure she knows what is best for her fellow students’ love lives. Emma sets out to find a boyfriend for shy student Harriet Smith, played by Emma Wiwchar. The musical ran three nights – Wednesday to Friday. The cast and crew also did a matinee Wednesday for Primeau students and seniors.

Primeau Plays
The Georges H. Primeau Middle School Performing Arts Grade 8 play took place in the school gym on Tuesday night. Titled What Happened After Once Upon a Time? by Alexi Alfieri, the fun play centers on two narrators reading stories from a stack of fairy tale books. As they read the stories the main characters interrupt and tell their own version of the events.The show took place last Tuesday night.

The Minstrels who saved Christmas…Celebration
The Morinville Minstrels and community volunteers gathered for a planning meeting Nov. 28 to carry on the 38th Annual Community Christmas Celebration. The Minstrels stepped up to save the annual event from cancellation. The event takes place Dec. 21.
