Races throughout the region except for school boards

Candidates had until 12 noon on Monday to file their nomination papers to be candidates in the upcoming election. Below are the results we have been able to pull from communities in the region.

Bon Accord

Bon Accord will have an election for both mayor and council. Unofficial results at the close of nominations have two running for mayor and seven running for four Council seats.

Running for one of four Council seats in Bon Accord are Lynn Bidney, Brian Holden, Jennifer
MacArthur, Tanya May, Amanda Merritt, Lorna Pocock, and Liliana White.

Legal

Legal will also see a race, although the community selects its councillors and the councillors select their mayor.

Running for one of five seats are Andrew John Michael Beaton, Gerald Gouin, Annette Diane Hammond, Patrick Hills, Trina Marie Jones, Fred Malott, and Carol Tremblay.

Gibbons

Gibbons will see a two-way race for mayor with Louise Bauder and Dan Deck throwing their names in the ring.

Nine candidates have put their names forward for one of six Council seats with Matthew Barker, Loraine Berry, Amber Harris, Darren McCann, Jaycinthe Millante, Ed Parsons, Norm Sandahl, Suzanne Stack, and Jean Woodger filing nomination papers.

Redwater

Like Morinville, Redwater will not have an election for mayor with incumbent Mel Smith acclaimed.

On the Council side, nine put their names forward for six seats.

The unofficial candidate list includes Allan Nielsen, Dody Kluttig, Connie Butcher, Les Dorosh, Lori Lumsden, Rob Olsen, Joanne M Williams, David B McRae, and Jack Dennett.

School Boards Acclaimed for Morinville Seats

Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools’ two Morinville trustees are in by acclamation with only incumbents Noreen Radford and Rene Tremblay putting their names forward.

Sturgeon School Division’s Morinville seat was also taken by acclamation with incumbent Misty Featherley acclaimed for a second term.
