Jets earn three out of four points on opening weekend

by Morinville News Staff

A win and an overtime loss gave the Morinville Junior B Jets three out of a possible four points over the weekend.

The Jets hit the road Friday night to face the Merchants. The Jets came from behind a 5-1 deficit to pound back with four goals in a row in the final period, pushing the contest into overtime and a shoot-out to make the decision. Unfortunately, for the Jets, that decision went in St. Albert’s favour.

Sunday was a clearer path to victory with the Jets taking down the North Edmonton Red Wings 7-4 on home ice. Although the Wings fought back in the third, the gap was too wide.

This week sees the Jets hitting the ice in Stony Plain for a midweek outing with the Flyers and back on home ice Oct. 1 to face the Regals. Game time is 7:15 p.m. at the Ray McDonald Sports Center.
