Council received two presentations for potential green initiatives in Morinville at their last Committee of the Whole (COW) meeting June 20. The first was from a company called WastAway who are working with Roseridge Landfill on a potential plant to turn trash into energy.

Council has received two presentations for potential green initiatives in Morinville at their last Committee of the Whole (COW) meeting of their four-year term on June 20. As the meeting was at COW, no decisions on steps to proceed with either program were made, however, as Council does not have the power to make decisions on legislation at COW.

Sheldon Fingler, a local business owner and former Mayoral candidate, has presented to Council at Committee of the Whole on why he believes business licensing by the Town is unfair and provides zero value to the businesses that participate in licensing programs. Fingler was invited to present to Council after being asked by Councillor Stephen Dafoe, who recently debated Fingler after Dafoe discussed the idea of a regional business licences.

Morinville Sobeys is exchanging tasty ice cream for $2 donations this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Morinville Youth Programming was selected as the charity in Morinville for the company's Canada Screams for Ice Cream campaign and Kids Paying-it-Forward program.

The Lions Club of Morinville were at three schools today with their Project Pride certificates for each student and Canada flags for all Grade 1 students.
