Our housing market showed a dramatic drop in average July prices, but the average days on the market seemed to keep steady.
Last month, Morinville saw 19 single family homes and three condominiums sell at average prices of $344,094 and $214,633, respectively…. […]
Just a little over three years ago, this publication introduced me to the Morinville community as a neophyte runner who had gotten into the sport as a way to battle the bulge, fend off anti-depression medication and experience life as a fitter, healthier person…. […]
I had the pleasure of being one of the judges for the Morinville’s Best Garden competition. I spent the morning with other judges and media touring 17 different gardens and exploring the personality displayed in the gardens through the use of plants and design elements…. […]
Last week, the federal First Nations Financial Transparency Act (FNFTA) was made law following heavy influence from lobby group The Canadian Taxpayers Federation. The new legislation requires bands to post detailed financial information to the federal Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada’s website, including a clearly marked section displaying remuneration for Chief and Band Council members.. “Don’t let the sun go down on your anger” is often said to people during times of conflict or relational difficulty. This little proverb is actually found in the Bible—in Ephesians 4:26. During pre-marriage counseling with couples, I will often end our sessions together with this information, highlighting it as the most important piece of advice that I am going to give them. ”Don’t let the sun go down on your anger!” I say, adding for humour, “By all means stay up and fight!” That might sound funny, but when we are in a relational battle there is often very little in the conflict to make us chuckle… […]
Whenever I’m late with my column (and you all know that never happens) they let me look at what’s gonna be in it so I can get some new ideas to comment on. That happened this week because we went away to visit the grandkids down south. So here’s my thoughts on this week’s news in Morinville and area… […]
It’s hard to believe July is over and that means summer is almost over too. Got to say it has not been quite as bad a summer here in town as it’s been in other summers. That does not work so well for me because it gives me less to complain about at the White Rose, Timmies and other places I go from time to time… […]
by Michael Roizen, M.D., and Mehmet Oz, M.D. – Heart-shaped leaves and a peppery punch make watercress a foodie favourite in salads, sandwiches and sautés. And recently, this leafy green won the World Cup of the fruit and vegetable world, running off with top ranking for its nutritional wallop. […]
Legal’s got their big Fête au Village on this weekend and it’s an event I’ve always liked to go to. Of course it is an event I used to go to in my younger days and stay for two or three days. Now I just go for the parade, show and shine and the demolition derby. Here’s a few of my thoughts on the Fête au Village, the Frontier Daze and some of the other festivals what goes on around here… […]
by Tristan Turner – From June 28 to July 5, a group of seven MCHS students travelled to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in the hopes of assisting local organizations that worked with low-income families, or built community engagement. These students travelled as the Morinville Interact Club, the separate youth-wing of the Morinville Rotary Club, and started planning for the trip in hopes of pursuing the goals of Rotary International: service, social justice and international citizenship. As President of the Morinville Interact Club, I hope to share some of the highlights from our trip and thank those who made our adventures possible… […]
I see the government has a survey on the internets what you can vote on a new licence plate for Alberta to use. I don’t know why we need a new plate but I bet with everything going on and their chances in the next election they do not want Wildrose Country on the plates anymore. Not sure what plate gets picked, but I bet more Albertans will vote for stupid licence plates than vote for the next premier. Anyway here’s my ideas. … […]
