Police looking for impaired drivers this month

The Morinville RCMP will be focusing on impaired drivers during the month of August, part of the detachment’s ongoing efforts to keep area roads safe by participating with provincial sheriffs and other law enforcement agencies. Each month, police have a particular traffic safety focus. In July, police kept their eyes on occupant restraints, particularly drivers not wearing them. Although August’s focus is on impaired drivers due to increased traffic, it is something the detachment is vigilant about year round. […]

The late afternoon storm that blew through Morinville Thursday cancelled the first of three Music in the Park events. Jan and Jim Baker were to bring the first of their Summer Music in the Park events to Town July 23; however, the event has been tentatively rescheduled for July 30. The event will feature singer/songwriter Jan Baker and Canadiana singer/songwriter John Spearn beneath the clock tower for 90 minutes of music. Police investigating drowning

Morinville, Alberta – On July 25th, 2015, at approximately 11:42 a.m., Morinville RCMP responded to a report of a missing 2 year old female child who had been playing at a park in the Lakes Subdivision with her siblings. The child from Morinville, was found unresponsive in a nearby pond by RCMP. Life saving efforts were initiated, but the child was later pronounced deceased by Emergency Medical Services. Morinville RCMP and the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office continue to investigate. The RCMP will not be releasing any further details at this time. […]
