Town hopeful for County partnership after land announcement

Mayor Lisa Holmes has announced a new partnership with the Town and Sturgeon County on the Rec Centre project. Holmes announced at the Nov. 10 Council meeting the County will be purchasing a large plot of land directly east of the 77-acres the Town of Morinville purchased just east of East Boundary Road. Government restores Summer Temporary Employment Program

The province announced Nov. 3 it will be reinstating the Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP), a move it says will help students access more job opportunities.

It was an evening in China for local businesses Thursday night during the Morinville and District Chamber of Commerce’s annual Awards Night Gala. This year’s event sold more than 230 tickets, a 40 per cent increase in turnout over 2014’s event. Council passes Intermunicipal Committee Bylaw with County

At their Oct. 27 regular meeting, Council unanimously passed all three readings of an Intermunicipal Affairs Committee Bylaw, which aims to encourage greater cooperation between the Town and Sturgeon County.

The RCMP in Morinville responded to a break, enter and theft at Pipeline business near Gibbons, Alberta on Oct. 21, 2015 at approximately 5:30 a.m.

An employee reported a company truck and laptops had been stolen. RCMP were successful in locating the truck and recovering some of the laptops the same morning in a nearby field. […]

Enbridge supports Sturgeon Foundation project

On Oct. 13 Lisa Seeley, Enbridge Community Relations Advisor and Ian Melligan, Manager Enbridge Pipeline Services Western Region presented a $7500 cheque to the Sturgeon Foundation. The presentation took place at the Spruce View Manor in Gibbons with Jim Fowler Director of Accommodation Services accepting on behalf of the foundation. The money will be used to cover the cost of installing more than 100 smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in every self-contained unit under the Sturgeon Foundation umbrella. This consists of units at Sunrise and Sunset Villas in Legal, Pinecrest Gardens in Gibbons, Sunridge Sunset Manors in Bon Accord, Heritage Lodge and Lions Manor in Morinville, the Golden Villa in Redwater and Chateau Mission Court in St. Albert.
