Sturgeon County – County ratepayers will see a 6.2 per cent increase in their 2011 property taxes now that County Council has approved the 2011 budget. The budget passed with a 4-3 vote Tuesday afternoon, Mayor Don Rigney and Councillors David Kluthe and Don McGeachy voting against the $54 million budget on the basis of the increase.

Sturgeon County – The County’s proposed 2011 budget ended up very close to where it began when three full days of budget deliberations closed Friday afternoon. Originally suggested as a 6.1 per cent tax increase when the initial discussions began Nov. 19; the final proposed figures ended up at 6.2 per cent at the end of discussions Dec. 3. The tax increase had rose as high at 10.24 per cent during Council’s discussions of next year’s budget, but was trimmed back down Friday.

Morinville – Ratepayers can expect to see a 3.5 per cent increase to their 2011 property taxes and an additional 2 per cent increase to their monthly water and sewer bills in the New Year.
