Morinville will hold by-election this fall

Morinville – Veteran Morinville Town Councillor Ben Van de Walle has stepped down after being recently diagnosed with leukemia, prompting a by-election to fill his vacant council seat. Council called a special meeting Tuesday afternoon to decide if a by-election would be held to fill the seat.

Morinville elects its six councillors

Morinville – Voters went to the polls Monday to choose six of 10 candidates to serve on Morinville Town Council for the next three years. After Morinville’s mayor and council were acclaimed last election, voters were pleased to not only have an election this time but also 10 candidates to choose from. The last time Morinville had an election was 2004, during which two candidates ran for mayor and six for council.

Morinville approves new phone system

Morinville – The town office and some of Morinville’s outlying facilities will be getting a new $200,000 state-of-the-art telephone system after council voted 6-1 in favour of the proposal at its June 22 regular meeting.
