Morinville – If the Rotary Club of Morinville has their way, there will be a new multi-use recreational facility within Sturgeon County within the next five years. Sturgeon County – Representatives from RC Strategies presented Sturgeon County Council with the findings of a needs assessment study they conducted on the County’s behalf earlier this year. The approximately $50,000 study took stock of existing recreational facilities and programs in Sturgeon County and neighbouring communities, assessing the strengths and weaknesses based on what County residents are using and would use if it were available to them.

Morinville – The topic of a swimming pool for Morinville surfaced as one of the questions moderator Paul Smith asked of council candidates at Wednesday night’s All-Candidates Forum. Like the public themselves, candidates were divided on the issue.
Perhaps with the almost certainty that Morinville Town Council will not be given their seats by acclamation this time around, perhaps the words “community pool” will be tossed around like the waves after someone has taken a dive into the deep end. If they are, those politicians espousing such ideas may be playing to a small audience and may well be taking a dive off the high board into the shallow end. […]
