Sturgeon County – If you enjoy an opportunity to get out and enjoy the summer and all that Cardiff Park has to offer, then July 18 is a date to mark on your calendars.

Sturgeon County will be hosting a day of family fun from 10 a.m until 4 p.m. with something for the whole family.

The day kicks off with a Twoonie Pancake Breakfast from 10 a.m. until noon, to be immediately followed with a barbecue concession from noon until 3:30 p.m. Proceeds from both culinary events will go towards the Sponsor a Child Program.

Throughout the day there will be a number of free activities for County families, including a petting zoo with more than 40 animals, including a variety of chickens, ducks, bunnies, guinea pigs, potbelly pigs, goats, sheep, alpaca, miniature horse and miniature cattle.

Entertainers have also been lined up and the Family Festival will have balloon animal makers, face painters and a strolling magician to provide some summer fun.

Other carnival-type activities will include a duck pond, hockey shot, football throw, dunk tank and karaoke, as well as two inflatable attractions for children to jump and have fun in.

But there is also plenty of family activities as well. Organizers are planning to have a scavenger hunt using GPS units, horse shoes, bocce ball, bola ball (horse balls), a variety of mini games from the hit game show Minute to Win It (NBC), water games, obstacle course and relay races.

For those who like heir festival a little more crafty – the County is organizing a number of arts and crafts, including pet rocks, grass heads and an opportunity to make a bird feeder.

Be sure to come out and enjoy this mid-summer afternoon’s festival of fun
