Westlock – A 15-year-old Sturgeon County teen died over the weekend after being thrown from the ATV she was a passenger on.

Ashton Parrish had been one of three teens riding a quad in the Spruce Island Lake area, north of Westlock. Westlock RCMP report that the quad left the road and went off the trail, ejecting all three teens.

Westlock RCMP, Westlock County Fire, Westlock Ambulance and STARS attended the call where Parrish was pronounced dead at the scene. The 14-year old male driver of the quad was transported from the scene by STARS and the vehicle’s other passenger, a 14-year old male, was transported to hospital by ambulance. Both teens had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Although the collision is still under investigation, RCMP report that all three youths were wearing helmets and alcohol or drug use was not a factor in this collision.

Friends of the deceased have established a FaceBook page in her memory, sharing their grief at her passing and reminiscences of her life. She is remembered by friends for her “beautiful smile and endless enthusiasm.”
