Crime rate holding in Sturgeon County

By MorinvilleNews.com Staff

Sturgeon County – Morinville RCMP Staff Sergeant Mac Richards, who has been making the rounds to municipal councils with his second quarter policing reports, brought good news to Sturgeon County Council Aug. 24. Richard’s message to council was similar to what he has told other municipalities – crime is on a par, if not slightly down, from last year’s levels.

Of particular note to Sturgeon County is the decrease in thefts from automobiles and a decrease in the number of vehicle collisions. The first quarter of 2010 saw RCMP responding to 167 vehicle collisions, while that number decreased to 128 during the second quarter.
