Bon Accord – Sturgeon County is teaming up with Travel Alberta and Prairie Gardens and Adventure Farm for a celebration of local cuisine and art this Saturday. Called the Sturgeon County Bounty, the economic development initiative is a one-day festival where participants will get to sample a wide selection of seasonal flavours from the best local cuisine Sturgeon County has available.
A dozen local purveyors of food have been lined up for the four-hour event, each providing a variety of their special dishes. Admission to the event is $15 and includes six sample food tickets. Additional tickets can be purchased at a cost of $1 each. Dishes run between one and four tickets each, depending on the dish.
And not everything on the menu is something everyone has likely to have experienced. Grilled lamb souvlaki, curried carrot soup, wheat grass juice and Italian meatloaf with Alpaca are all on the various participants’ menus.
Admission to the Sturgeon County Bounty also includes admission to Prairie Gardens & Adventure Farm’s Haunted Pumpkin Festival, home of a certain pirate and his pumpkin-firing cannon. The Haunted Pumpkin Festival continues throughout October on weekends.
The event runs from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Oct. 2 at Prarie Gardens and Adventure Farm, located on Lily Lake Road.
