Caviar Players ready to open auditions for musical

By Étienne Thevou

Morinville – Although their next production is said to be a hilarious romp through Sherwood Forest, the Morinville-based Caviar Players are looking to roam throughout Sturgeon County looking for cast members for the spring production.

The local travelling theatre company, now in its 25th year, are looking for 11 cast members for their production of Hoodwinked, a musical about Robin Hood, his famous band and a group of liberated women they come in contact with.

Auditions for Hoodwinked will be held Oct. 20 from 6 – 9 p.m. at Best Friends Ice Cream Bar & More, located next to the Ray McDonald Sports Centre.

Actors are asked to come to the audition prepared with a short monologue and a short song that will showcase their talents to the production’s director, Kori-Lynn Hudson.

Behind the scenes help needed

But those who do not have the acting and singing gene but who like the idea of theatre can also come to the audition to learn about Caviar Players and their need for behind-the-scenes opportunities, including set design and construction, stage management, light and sound and other important elements of the production.

Traditionally, Caviar Players open their spring production in April in Bon Accord and Radway in support of the local Ag Societies in those communities. The show then opens in Morinville as a fundraiser for the Rovers.
