École Georges P. Vanier School in Morinville held a Fundraising Scrapfest Friday night to build up some funds for their playground equipment. Scrapbooking aficionados and dealers assembled from Sturgeon County and Edmonton to take part in the event. $700 had been raised from registrations prior to the commencement of the event.

A silent auction will also be held for the school’s playground equipment initiative during the CFCW Critters / Morinville Jets Alumni game set to take place at the Ray McDonald Sports Centre Feb. 17.

Legal Vipers hit the ditch

No, the Vipers did not take a turn for the worse in this weekend’s hockey outings. They hit the ditch quite literally. The Vipers’ website reports the team was en route to Slave Lake Friday night for a rematch when the Vipers’ bus encountered some bad weather. Blowing snow and ice made for poor visibility and the bus drifted to the side of the road and into the ditch.

No one was hurt in the incident and the only thing damaged was the Vipers opportunity to exact some revenge for the 6-5 loss the Winter Hawks gave them the week before. Friday night’s game will be rescheduled.

Adopt-a-pet
Rocky is a one-and-a-half year old mixed breed that is gentle, calm and somewhat submissive. Although a little timid at first, he quickly rolls over on his back for a tummy rub. He’s very devoted to people.

He’s a quick learner and already learning some basic commands, including sit and stay. Rocky is kennel trained, loves the outdoors and would be a good indoor or outdoor dog.

If you think Rocky might be a welcome addition to your family you can contact the Morinville Veterinary Clinic at 780-939-3133 to learn more about adopting Rocky. The clinic has many other dogs and cats looking for permanent homes.
