Morinville – The sound of music filled the air of St. Jean Baptiste Church Friday afternoon as eight seniors’ choirs from around the area gathered together to do what they do best, enjoy the gift of music and to share that gift with others.
The 32nd annual Seniors’ Choral Festival was hosted by the Morinville Minstrels in honour of Morinville’s centennial, a birthday it shares in common with Athabasca who sent two choirs to participate in the more than two hour event.
Joining the minstrels were the Westlock Merrymakers, Bonnyville Tune-Agers, Bonnyville Ukrainian Choir, the Fort Saskatchewan Pioneer Singers, Barrhead Versatiles, Athabasca Golden Memories and the Athabasca Marian Singers. The Minstrels closed the show with a number of turn-of-the-century songs, including Aint She Sweet?
Following the concert, the performers retired to the Senior’s Rendez-Vous Centre for fellowship and refreshments.
