Morinville – The Morinville Public Library opened its doors to politicians and well-wishers Sunday afternoon for a special celebration to mark its latest achievement. The library was one of two recipients of the 2011 Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Library Service (for a community under 15,000) and won the prestigious award for the library’s genealogy program. The Honourable Hector Goudreau, Minister of Municipal Affairs presented the award to board members at the Alberta Library Conference held at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in Jasper at the edn of April.
Sunday afternoon’s event was an opportunity for the minister to join MLA Ken Kowalski in congratulating the library, its board and staff member April Heppleston, the latter of whom spearheads the genealogy program for the library.
