Happy Canada Day

Morinville – After an absence of several years, the Morinville Historical and Cultural Society organize a Canada Day celebration in St. Jean Baptiste Park. The family event built on an old fashioned picnic in the park to deliver residents and visitors an excellent opportunity to enjoy the weather, meet with friends and reflect on how great it is to be a Canadian living in small town Alberta. From home grown music to free ice cream cones and watermelon, Morinville’s Canada Day celebrations had family and home written all over it.

The Canada Day committee kicked the day off in true patriotic style by distributing more than 1,700 miniature Canadian flags to the lawns of more than 1,700 residences. 32 volunteers placed the flags so Morinville would wake up to the colours of the day.

Below is a photo gallery of the festivities in St. Jean Baptiste Park.

  1. Thank you Morinville Historical and Cultural Society and the Canada Day committee for the Canadian flags placed throughout the town! Job well done. Definitely makes me proud to be Canadian! Having worn the Canadian flag for 29 years as a member of the Canadian Forces, I thank you for helping the citizens of Morinville and all Canadians celebrate Canada Day once again!

  2. Thanks to the Historical Society for a great event on Canada Day.
