Morinville – The Friends of the Morinville Public Library have selected their new logo after holding a contest for local graphic designers to design the new visual identity of the group.

Colette Bachand was the talented winner of the logo contest. Her submission was selected out of all the entries the library received for this contest, and the local artist won the grand prize, an 8GB iPod Nano Touch.

It is not the first prize the MCHS student has won this year. Bachand was presented with a cheque for $500 by Service Alberta earlier this year for her award-winning poster on identity theft. Bachand was one of five winners in the 2010 Alberta Consumer Champion Awards, an acknowledgement that recognizes Albertans who work to promote fairness in the Alberta marketplace by delivering outstanding consumer programs and awareness initiatives.

The teen’s latest artistic win will help provide the Friends of the Morinville Public Library with an image that can identify the work they do in the community on behalf of the library. The group of library patrons and enthusiasts assist the Morinville Public Library in providing high quality library services by gathering funds and purchasing materials and equipment the library needs. They also assist the library with events, programs and projects. Over the past decade the Friends have raised more than $300,000 for the library.
