High school ready to play some volleyball

Morinville – Volleyball players from Morinville Community High School are getting set to hit the court this week for the annual Lion’s Western Canadian Challenge Invitational High School Volleyball Tournament.

The action begins Oct. 20 and continues until Oct. 22 with 48 volleyball teams from 34 different high schools competing for the championship. Although the majority of schools are from Alberta, two teams are coming from outside the provine, one from Vancouver, B.C and another from North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Provincially, schools from Edmonton, Ardrossan, Leduc, Medicine Hat, Calgary, Peace Wapiti, Vegreville and Lloydminister are a few to join the competition.

This tournament has been again organized by MCHS staff and this year marks the tournament’s 17th year. The tournament partners with St. Albert Catholic High School and Bellerose Composite High School in the hosting of the event.

Games start simultaneously at 1 p.m. Oct. 20 in all three gyms and continue all day Friday. Finals will be Oct. 22at 5 p.m. at MCHS and Bellerose Composite High School.
