Jets defeat Chiefs

Morinville – The Morinville Jets built from a solid first period Sunday night to defeat the visiting Beaumont Chiefs 4-2. The majority of Jets’ goals were scored in the first period, including a short-handed contribution from Brady McCorriston. The Jets pulled ahead from their first period 3-1 lead to gain one and let one past in the remaining two frames.

The victory brings the club’s record to 12-4-1 this season, and helped to maintain their top position in the Capital Junior hockey League’s West Division. With 25 points in the standings, the Jets are in third place in the league overall.

The Jets have a tough and easy week ahead. They face off against the second-ranked Edmonton Royals (14-2-0)Wednesday night on the road, and end the week with a home-ice contest against the winless Stony Plain Flyers (0-15-1). Game time for the home game is 6:45 p.m. at the Ray McDonald Sports Centre.
