Morinville – Award winning fantasy and science fiction author Jo Walton was in Morinville Thursday night for the third instalment of the Morinville Public Library’s author talks. The Montreal-based author has racked up an impressive list of awards for her writing. Nine years ago Walton received the John W. Campbell Award for best new writer and followed that with the World Fantasy Award two years later for the novel Tooth and Claw.

Walton had a small but enthusiastic Morinville audience Thursday night, patrons who had the opportunity to meet the author and hear her read from her latest novel, Among Others, a semi-autobiographical novel.

The novelist is guest of honour at the Pure Spec Science Fiction Convention in Edmonton over the weekend. Walton’s Morinville appearance was made possible through a centennial grant for the library’s author talk series. Walton’s appearance will be followed in early December by a reading and presentation from Edmonton mystery novelist Janice MacDonald.
