Morinville – The first Sunday in December at the Morinville Legion is always a buzz of activity. This year, there were more than 50 children under 12 years of age, plus their parents and friends that showed up for the Kids’ Christmas party. But the Hall was quickly transformed later in the afternoon for a more serious event- the installation of the new Executive and Committee members. The guest to perform the ceremony this year was Wayne Willis, Deputy District 8 Commander for AB-NWT Command.

The event was formalized at 6:30 pm with the opening ceremony and singing of O Canada. The Sergeant-at-Arms, Justin Kuchta, had the appropriate flags placed and was ready to march up the members to be installed and sworn in to their new Executive or Committee positions.

The new president, Bob Peterson, has previously served a term as President and is back for another year. The new 2nd Vice-president is Gerry Morrow. The Past President, Emmanuel Allard, was marched up to be recognized for his two years of service.

Comrade Lucien Beaupre was thanked for his many years of service and completion of his two-year term as Bottle Officer. Beaupre will now begin a new one-year term with the new designation of “Honorary Bottle Officer.” The new Executive and Committee members, consisting of thirteen members, and recruiting for the Secretarial position, begin their term of office in January.

Numerous Committee members serving one- or two-year terms were also installed.
