Morinville – Higher Grounds monthly Hot Dogma night took on a festive flavour Friday night with Feliz Navidogma, a Christmas-themed open mic night. Musicians from beginner to world-class professional took to the stage for 90 minutes of family entertainment. As is so often the case, not all of the acts were booked prior to the start of the event.

One of the highlights of Friday night’s show was an impromptu performance of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer by Zach Holmes and Zoe Scrimshaw. Below is a YouTube video of that show-stealing performance.

Other highlights of the night included local musician Paul Smith and Edmonton violinist John Calverly teaming up for a number of Christmas songs. The two musicians second trip to the coffee house stage included Calverly's violin accompanyment on a number of metal classics, including AC/DC's Highway to Hell and Black Sabbath's Iron Man.

Higher Ground’s next Hot Dogma night is set for Jan. 20.
