Council appoints Library Board trustees

By Stephen Dafoe

Morinville – Council unanimously approved the re-appointment of two existing Morinville Public Library trustees and the appointment of two new trustees Dec. 13.

Returning to the board are current Library Board Chair Noreen Radford and Councillor Lisa Holmes, the latter of whom stepped down as Town representative to the board at Council’s organizational meeting in October. Holmes former position of Town rep was filled by Councillor Nicolle Boutestein. Councillor Holmes excused herself from the vote on her own re-appointment to the board.

Newly appointed board members include university student Christopher Trapani, son of former Morinville Town Councillor Joseph Trapani, and Morinville resident Keith Norris.

Library Board terms are for three years and the appointed and re-appointed trustee terms are set to expire in October 2014.

The Library Board is currently working on a number of issues, including fundraising for the expanded Morinville Public Library and Multi-Media Centre, set to open in March, 2012 when Civic Plaza renovations are completed.
