All-Stars ready to rock

By Monday Morning News Staff

Morinville – The Ray McDonald Sports Centre will be the barn in which this season’s Capital Junior Hockey League (CJHL) All-Star games will be played. This year will see two games of the best the CJHL has to offer hitting Morinville Jan. 7.

Inter- and extra-divisional rivalries will be put aside for an All-Star Rookie game at 1:30 and the regular All-Star game at 4:30 p.m.

Jets President Brent Melville said the club’s coaches got to send one defence and two forwards for the rookie game. Coaches have selected Tyler Kampjes to play D and Troy Roberts and Brady McCorriston to play forward.
With respect to the All-Star game, Morinville’s first place position in the West Division after 19 games gave it dominance in the game. The league selected Morinville Jet Brad Millar as the west’s man between the pipes and Dalen Paul, who was in the top five scorers midway through the season, to represent the west as center.

In addition, the club’s ranking allowed the Jets to send Nick McRae as D and David Hauptman as forward for the game.
The day of All-Star hockey action will be followed by a fundraising dinner and dance at the cultural centre. See advertisement on page 11 of this issue for details.
