Drills build skills
Ryan Douaire of the Morinville Road Runners Bantam Boys works his way past coach Serge Froment during a multi-team practice Sunday night. Although the Road Runners have had girls teams for a few years now, this season was the first time they’ve fielded a Bantam Boys team.


Net result
Basketball coach Serge Froment demonstrates some skills for his players Sunday night. The evening’s practice at MCHS drew together all Morinville players for a 90-minute group practice.


Jets face Icemen
A Morinville Jet crashes towards the net in the closing moments of the second period during Sunday night’s home game against the visiting Wetaskiwin Icemen. The Jets took the contest 3-2 in overtime. Morinville lead the first period 1-0, built their lead to 2-1 to end the middle frame, but allowed the Icemen to bring the contest to a 2-2 in the third. The Jets’ next game is Jan. 29 – an afternoon road game against the Strathcona Bruins.


Tournament Gold
The Sturgeon Minor Hockey Peewee C Mustangs won a tournament held in Millet Jan. 15. The Peewees beat Drayton Valley 3-2 in the Gold Medal game. Each player received a gold medal and the team received the Tournament Cup. There is plenty of hockey action going on in Morinville and area as teams fight their way towards league dominance heading towards the playoffs. – Submitted Photo
