Gibbons bank robber gets 10 years

Edmonton – A 35-year-old Edmonton man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Apr. 10 after pleading guilty to four armed robberies in North-Central Alberta, including one in Gibbons.

The Gibbons robbery occurred Jan. 18, 2011 at The Alberta Treasuries Branch (ATB) on 50 Avenue in Gibbons yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 2 p.m. that afternoon, masked individuals entered the branch with a firearm. An undisclosed amount of money was taken during the robbery. A teller received minor injuries during the incident but did not require medical treatment.

Gladue pleaded guilty to the Gibbons robbery as well as armed robberies in Lac La Biche, Onoway and Wetaskiwin between Nov. 30, 2010 and Jan. 18, 2011.
