Morinville – The Jets back-to-back wins over the weekend bring the club to a 3-1-0 record this season. This weekend’s efforts put another four points on the club’s season tally as they defeated the Fort Saskatchewan Hawks and Edmonton Mustangs.

The Morinville Jets road trip to the Fort Friday night put an end to the Hawks winning streak. After a 13-5 victory over the North Edmonton Red Wings and a 4-3 win over the Strathcona Bruins, the Hawks were defeated 6-3 in their own Barn.

The win, the Jets second in three outings began with a 2-1 lead for the Jets at the end of the first period. That lead advanced to 4-2 by the middle frame. The Jets started the third period with an early goal to build the lead to 5-2 and ended the game 6-3. In all, the Jets outshot the Hawks 55-31.

The victory gives the club another two points this season and puts the team back on track after a 6-4 loss to the Spruce Grove Regals Sept. 23.

Sunday night’s Road trip to Edmonton to face the Mustangs ended with a 9-5 victory for the Jets. The club ended the opening frame with a 4-3 lead, but increased the gap to 8-5 after two. The final frame saw the Jets fighting hard for that extra goal to end the game 9-5.

The Jets enter the Thanksgiving weekend with two games. The club takes on the St. Albert Merchants for the first time this season Friday night at 8 p.m. at the Akinsdal Arena in St. Albert, and return to home ice for a 6:45 p.m. game against the Beaumont Chiefs Sunday night.
