Police investigating B&E

Morinville – Police are investigating a break and enter to a house under construction that occurred over night Oct. 23. Morinville RCMP investigation showed someone had broken into the building and stole a shop vac and chop saw as well as a number of smaller tools. Although a specific address was not provided, police say the house was located near the Detachment.

Constable Yelena Avoine of the Morinville Detachment said they have suspects but are looking for help in the case.

“The unknown individual(s) that stole the tools may attempt to sell these tools at dramatically reduced prices,” Avoine said, adding she urges people not to purchase the items but to call police.

Morinville RCMP are offering safety tips to both contractors and home owners selling their vacant properties in how to best prevent becoming a victim:

Properly secure all sliding windows and doors. Often patio doors are used as the entry and exit point for removing appliances.

Lock up the home. Police report that more than 40 percent of break-ins usually occur without the use of force.

Record serial and model numbers of all appliances / tools.
