Morinville – Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools in Morinville held ceremonies of Remembrance Thursday morning, honouring the memory of those who served and fell and honouring those who serve today. Below are some photos from ceremonies at Notre Dame, Primeau and MCHS. Morinville Public elementary School will hold a ceremony Friday.
Tyler Ettel holds the wreath just prior to the Colour Guard procession being piped in. Along with his mother OCdt Kim Ettel, father Mcpl (Ret’d) Wayne Hussey and sister Raya they were the military family to lay the wreath at the foot of the cross at the Notre Dame Remembrance Day Ceremony held Thursday afternoon in the gym. Also in the procession were Legion and military members, firefighters and a few students in Beaver and Brownie uniforms. Father Ignacy and Councillors Sheldon Fingler, Lisa Holmes, Paul Krauskopf and Deputy Mayor Nicole Boutestein also joined the procession. – Lucie Roy Photo
The father and daughter team of Primeau student Bianca Charland and Garrison firefighter Sgt Al Charland played the Last Post and Reveille at the Primeau School Remembrance Service held Thursday morning in the school gym. Speakers at the school included Warrant Officer Susan Coupal and Sgt Marc Johnson with guests RCMP Constable Shannon Scott, Councillor Sheldon Fingler and Wayne Willis Royal Canadian Legion AB-NWT Command District 8 Deputy District Commander. – Lucie Roy Photo
Primeau school teacher Ashley Moss tapes the last of the wreaths onto the portable display board just before the Remembrance Service held Thursday morning in the school gym. The 21 wreaths and poppies represent each class and name of the students that have remembered.
