Column: From the desk of Community Services

By Kerry Dawson

Winter has arrived, bringing with it the fun and excitement of the holiday season. Community Services and all the elves are hard at work getting ready for the annual Lite Up the Park Christmas Festival, planning an abundance of family activities. Gather your cans and boxes for the Fill-A-Bus campaign in support of the Morinville Food Bank Society.

Drop by the Community Cultural Centre and purchase your tickets to see country star Brett Kissel. On Saturday Nov. 24, attend a multitude of exciting and free events all over town, including children’s crafts and games, a visit from Santa, and two performances by Circus Montreal. Bundle up for the parade and fireworks, and have those cameras ready when Santa works his magic to light up the park! On Sunday, enjoy some family time skating with Santa at the Ray McDonald Sports Centre, followed by a free family movie night at the Community Cultural Centre.

Other projects keeping your Community Services group busy include the Park Development Design initiative, a new Winter 2013 Community Guide coming soon to your mailbox, and significant upgrades to the Morinville Teen Centre. Get out and enjoy all Morinville has to offer this winter!
