In addition to providing the structural renovations, the Town provided a $50,000 grant to pay for the library’s new shelving.

Over the past year the Town of Morinville Public Library Board, staff and volunteers have been involved with several fundraising initiatives to help fund the renovations for the new facility. Sunday’s grand opening was, in addition to showing off the new library, an opportunity to publicly thank the platinum, silver, bronze and penny drive sponsors.

The Friends of the Morinville Public Library were recognized for their ongoing efforts to provide the library with the additional resources and equipment it requires, most recently the purchase of a new group of public computers. Bronze level sponsors who donated $500 or more include Joseph Trapani, Brent Melville of ReMax Real Estate, The Father’s House Christian Fellowship, The Rotary Club of Morinville, LBN Enterprises Inc., Smokin’ Elk Ranch, Bouchard Graphics and The Morinville News.

The Morinville Community Library’s new logo was also unveiled during the opening, a modified design that combines the heart and imagery of the five finalists in the library’s logo contest held this past summer.
