Jets lose a close one on the road

Wetaskiwin – After an impressive 9-3 victory over the visiting Edmonton Mustangs Friday night, the Jets took to the road Sunday afternoon for a disappointing turn of events. After leading 2-1 at the end of the first period, the Jets fell to a 5-4 decision by the end of the game. Sunday’s loss brings the Jets to a 13-10-0 record 23 games in, slightly less than the 17-8-2 record the club held by Christmas break 2011.

Sunday afternoon saw the Jets fall from a 2-1 lead at the end of the first to a 4-3 deficit at the end of the second. Despite pocketing another int he third, a similar result for the Icemen gave them the win, their eleventh consecutive home ice victory.

The Jets have one more game before the Christmas break, Friday night’s home-ice matchup with the visiting St. Albert Merchants. The Jets will have 14 games left in the New Year, eight of those on home ice. Game time for Friday night’s effort is 8:30 p.m. at the Ray McDonald Sports Centre.
