Editorial: Taking a look back

2012 was an interesting year for Morinville, one of growth and change. Population continued to increase. A councillor resigned and a new one was elected in a by-election. The mayor resigned and a councillor was appointed and invested with the collar of office. A new town hall rose above the scaffolding and a new steam stack was erected over a local manufacturing plant. The former caused a big stink; the latter aimed to cure one. The school issue was resolved – not to everyone’s satisfaction – but resolved to the point where two systems now exist.

It is too soon to tell what 2013 will bring Morinville as it grows ever nearer to city status – at least in terms of population. But it is not too late to take a fond look back at the year that was 2012. This edition we crack open our archives for some of the top stories and photos from 2012.

Wishing all of you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2013.
