Morinville – With a full roster back on the ice, the Morinville Jets picked up their third consecutive win Sunday night, a 5-2 victory over the visiting North Edmonton Red Wings. Hot on the heels of a winning streak of their own, the Red Wings were unable to advance beyond the two points they earned in the first period.
The Jets advanced from a 2-2 tie at the end of the first to lead the contest 3-2 at the end of the middle frame. The final period saw the Jets earn another two – a power play contribution at 9:48 when the Red Wings had a man in the box for goaltender interference, and an empty net goal in the closing seconds of the game. Sunday night’s win brings the Jets record to 16-11-0.
The club has played fewer games than any other team in the league so far this season. They will have the opportunity for some catch up this week with three games on the schedule. The Jets travel to Edmonton Wednesday night to take on the Royals, return home for a Friday night contest against the Edmonton Mustangs, and hit the road Sunday for an afternoon game against the Strathcona Bruins. Game time for Friday night’s home game is 8:30 p.m. at the Ray McDonald Sports Centre.
