Primeau Grades 5 to 8 French Immersion students hosted fellow students and staff to a winter festival with outdoor activities, including a number of outdoor activities. The Bonhomme de Neige-Snowman mascot was also on hand for the celebrations. In the afternoon Gilbert Parent and Ian Porteous, both performers with Les Bucherons, were in the gym providing a workshop on square dancing and how to play the spoons. The performers used student volunteers to enact a story of the Voyageurs, helping the students learn a little Canadian history. Teacher and event organizer Travis Hay said this is third year for the French carnival. The event is open to all students as a way of introducing them to French culture.
Les Bucherons performer Gilbert Parent tells the story of the Voyageurs with the assistance of students Gabrielle Cimon, Taylor Elliott, Nicholas Krause, Cooper Vervynck, Chelsea Hagel and Cierra Paul.
