Morinville – The Morinville and District Chamber of Commerce Leap Into Spring Expo filled the arena and curling club with a wide variety of business over the weekend, but the community also filled the stage with a wide variety of talent over the three-day event.
FRIDAY
The weekend kicked off Friday night with Ecole Notre Dame Elementary School and Morinville Public Elementary School taking to the stage for five musical numbers, before turning the event over to the welcoming words of Morinville Mayor Paul Krauskopf and Barrhead-Morinville-Westlock MLA Maureen Kubinec. The speeches and words of thanks were followed by 14 dance routines from Morinville’s Dance Connection. Below are some photos of some of the weekend’s entertainment.

SATURDAY
Saturday’s entertainment turned from people to pets as the Morinville Veterinary Clinic brought the Chamber their first Pet Fashion Show, an opportunity for a dozen dogs and some surprises to traipse the cat walk. The most fashionable pets won three vet clinic certificates courtesy of Professional Realty, presented by their new dog mascot Deogy. A one-year supply of pet food from local manufacturer Champion Petfoods was presented to the pets who least wanted to be there.

The three who walk as one – pomeranians Riley, Rickilyn and Boo – were a trio of uncooperative dogs who won a year’s supply of Champion Petfoods product, awarded to the pet who least wanted to take part in the trade show.
Humans performed as well
Saturday afternoon saw the entertainment stage turned back over to two legged performers.
Singer / songwriter Justin Hogg performed a full hour set and came back to do an additional two numbers during the Hot Dogma Talent show.
David LeBel of Edgore plays a Great Big Sea number, a softer side of the metal performer.

Carter Fingler was a winner in the Lions Tractor Pull event at the Leap Into Spring Expo.
SUNDAY
The final day of the Leap into Spring Expo included performances from local musicians Rory Turner and Riley Quinn, dance numbers from Carly Quinn and Connor Ryan and the Morinville News Baby Crawl – this year’s contest with a little more Flash than last year.
Rory Turner kicked off Sunday’s entertainment with a lively set of songs accompanied on ukulele.
Musician Riley Quinn performed a show combining his talents on electric, acoustic and keyboards.

ELSEWHERE IN TOWN SATURDAY
Highstreet Interiors held a Joie d’ Vive Spring-time in Paris themed event for their five year anniversary celebration Saturday. Entertainer Gilbert Parent and Ian Porteous of Les Bucherons provided the entertainment.
Jocelyn Blackburn Hunter Douglas rep, Kelly Parrent Manager, Beth Chevalier Owner and Interior Decorator, Alanna Hnatiw Assistant Manager, Donna Lazaruk Sales Staff, Andrea Pautonnier Interior decorator were on hand to assist the customers that came in. They had a line up at the door for their opening with free gifts for the first 50 customers, and hourly draws.
